Junior Hart the founder of Collywood says that, something is wrong when a country do not have a movie industry to tell their own stories on the big screen and stage internationally. Jamaican culture and the Jamaican brand name is massive around the world. So we need to wake up and shake up and move into the digital market and forget about Hollywood...we need to create our own thing in movies and stage proper.
Imagine this, you have been going to performing arts college for the past 3 years, your dream is to become a budding actor or actress in the Jamaican movie and stage industry. With excitement and hardship behind each year, you just about scrape together your college fees to see you through another year at college. When you finally graduate, and reality hits you.... There is nowhere in Jamaica to go and get employed in your chosen profession of acting. There is no professional movie industry to make you into a star. So what do you do from there? If you are a female, you either use your womanly charms and bluff your way into some independent local production by flirting with the producer, then it dawns on you that he only wants to go to bed with you. Eventuallyyou start looking for other means of support you become even more dishearted and meet the love of your life and start a family and forget about becoming a movie star.... the dream starts to fade, but not losing hope, you are a regular star on facebook, but that's as far as it goes, showing off your photos and ego to the world ..... but there is only one thing, Nothing is happening for you in the Movie profession
